Certificate in Counselling Skills
Overview of the course
The course is for anyone considering a career in professional counselling, wishing to enhance their communication skills or develop knowledge and skills for use within the workplace. The course is also ideal for those interested in personal growth and development.
The Certificate in Counselling Skills will be delivered by us on Monday evenings at Ormiston Chadwick Academy in Widnes from 6pm to 9pm and commences 6th April 2015.
What will I learn?
The course will enable you to enhance and improve your listening and verbal skills and offers a solid understanding of vocational counsellor training. The skills course will introduce you to experiential learning processes, encourage participation, support personal growth, develop confidence and self-esteem and provide an underpinning knowledge of codes of conduct and ethical practice related to the field.
You will complete the course with skills directly linked to the world of work and will have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to move onto the next level of counsellor training.
What do I need to join the course?
You will need enthusiasm to engage in classroom work and learn lifelong skills. You should have a basic understanding of counselling as a therapeutic intervention and it is expected that you will have a good level of literacy in order to complete any written work. You will need to complete a course application form and return it to email@example.com to enrol.
Is there an exam?
There will not be an exam. Learning will be continually assessed in the classroom and there will be a 750 word, tutor marked assignment. Successful students will be awarded a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills accredited by The National Council of Psychotherapists.
Following the Certificate in Counselling Skills you will be eligible to progress to the Certificate/Diploma in Counselling. The Diploma is a practitioner level qualification allowing you to practice as a qualified counsellor.
Course Fee and Payments
A one off registration/ administration fee of £37.50 is required at the time of enrolment. The remaining fee can be paid in full or in instalments.
